Microfinance Fund 2006 is a tranche-structured fund with risk absorbed from the bottom-up; the fund consists of an equity layer (3% of fund size), Junior Subordinated Notes (4% of fund size), Subordinated Notes (26% of fund size) and Senior Notes (66% of fund size). Five year fund, interest paid quarterly, principal paid over eight equal payments over final two years of the fund.

Microfinance Fund 2006 (MFF 2006) selected microfinance institutions (MFIs) who share Global Partnerships' commitment to social impact. MFF 2006 is invested in a portfolio of MFIs whose clients are 77% women and 45% of whom live in rural areas. Additionally, a majority of the MFIs receiving loans from MFF 2006 provide additional social services, including health services and education, business training and rural ag technical assistance.
