Edit this fund

VilCap Investments LLC invests in early-stage enterprises around the world that strive to make a positive social and/or environmental impact, focusing on addressing economic inequality and resource scarcity/sustainability.

The fund will exclusively source investment opportunities through the peer-selection process operated within eligible Village Capital programs. The Fund will generally make seed-stage investments in the form of debt, convertible debt or equity and/or enter into revenue sharing arrangements with peer-selected Portfolio Companies, and evaluate these companies for additional follow-on capital commitments

Village Capital has an innovative peer selection model that equips entrepreneurs with skills as investors and democratically allocates capital, shifting the traditional power dynamics between those solving problems and those deploying funds.

In the peer-selection process, a group of entrepreneurs focused around addressing a given social or environmental issue in the target sectors of health, education, energy, financial services, and sustainable agriculture, spends 12 weeks receiving training and mentoring, building their ventures and giving one another feedback. Throughout the program, the entrepreneurs themselves evaluate each other against early-stage investment criteria. At the end of the program, the final peer-evaluation designates two enterprises as the most investment-ready.

Financial description

VilCap Investments seeks early-stage, high-growth ventures that have the potential to produce market-rate financial returns because they a) identify true customer demand and meet customer needs with a strong value proposition that solves a real problem b) position themselves within a market in which they can establish a differentiated advantage and c) address sizable markets in which they can scale.
The fund will generally make seed-stage investments of $25,000-100,000 in peer-selected ventures sourced through Village Capital programs in the form of debt, convertible debt or equity and/or enter into revenue sharing arrangements with such peer-selected Portfolio Companies. The fund also plans to evaluate these Portfolio Companies for additional follow-on capital commitments of $100,000-350,000 in the form of debt, convertible debt, equity or revenue sharing arrangements.
