Since early on in college, I knew that I wanted to work in nonprofits in order to explore my interests in global development and sustainable environmental management. As I began my career with the Sierra Club in 1998, I saw the important role that fundraising and donor stewardship played in the success of an organization and its ability to accomplish its mission. As I moved from Sierra Club to the Trust for Public Land, I decided that my contribution in mission-driven work would be through fundraising. While at the Trust for Public Land I focused on institutional fundraising and returned to school to pursue a graduate degree in International Studies, determined to revive my interest in international development. With this degree, I relocated to Boston to join Oxfam, where I led a team responsible for securing support for campaigning and advocacy both in the United States and around the globe and fundraising for both long-term development programs and humanitarian response.
