The Unitus Equity Fund objective is to invest in microfinance institutions (“MFIs”), predominantly in India and otherwise in developing countries around the world, that demonstrate the potential to address the lack of access to financial services in developing nations.

For the Fund’s purposes, an MFI is defined as any organization engaged in extending microcredit loans or other financial services to enterprises owned by members of disfranchised communities or otherwise provide loans or other financial services to members of disfranchised communities.



Financial description

Unitus Equity Fund primarily targets MFIs that have a clearly demonstrated capacity and willingness to design, implement and grow a successful microfinance program.
The Fund will make its Investments solely in microfinance organizations. The Fund will not invest more than 20% of the aggregate principal amount of committed Investments in any country other than India. No Investment will represent more than 20% of the total Investments of initial capital, except under extraordinary and temporary conditions and as approved by the General Partner’s Board of Directors.
