Sonanz Impact 1 invests in private companies that are both fast growing and actively contributing to a reduction of poverty-related problems. The fund is designed as a private equity fund-of-funds, which is both cost-efficient for investors and draws on the expertise of Sonanz to select the best funds from more than a hundred potential target funds. The fund is therefore a unique new way for investors to invest for social impact without sacrificing financial returns or taking unjustified risk.

Financial description

We believe that it is possible to deliver social and environmental value and provide attractive financial returns to investors. Sonanz Impact 1 targets market rate financial returns and give investors exposure to fast-growing private companies. Those companies are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), often with highly scalable and low-margin business models that require early, and growth stage equity funding.
The fund-of-funds structure offers cost-efficient access to a large and diversified (across sectors, geographies, currencies, and vintage years) portfolio with significantly reduced risk and a higher likelihood of including social and financial “blockbusters”.

Impact Performance

n.a.

Impact thesis

We differentiate between social impact that is generated by products and services of companies and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards that apply to the operations along the value chain of companies. Our target funds should invest in companies that offer essential products and services that significantly improve the lives of the poor. On top of that we expect a good ESG management system from our GPs to protect our investors, society and the environment against ESG risks and to create opportunities for our portfolio companies. We measure social and ESG performance carefully, because good intentions are not enough to create lasting change.
