Financial description

The Social Enterprise Investment Fund II will provide growth capital to social enterprises based in the UK, who are providing innovative solutions to social problems, driving positive social change and becoming sustainable. Investment made by the fund can range from £250,000 to £2,000,000, with the possibility of additional follow on investment depending on the success of the business.
Financing will be provided in the form of debt, participation debt, social impact bonds and equity. Focus will be on expansion financing for growth stage social enterprises, but up to 30% of funds will be to early stage social enterprises.

The Fund will use a proprietary Impact Assessment methodology to evaluate, monitor and report on the social impact performance of the Fund to investors in a transparent, meaningful and robust way. Investments are assessed according to a number of quantitative indicators related to mission, scale, transparency and business innovation.
We will agree on core metrics for each business and aim to have common indicators across each of our six core investment themes. For example in the area of employment and training core metrics would include:
