The Nesa Enterprise Development Fund (“the Fund”) is a social impact investment fund with an objective to provide long term and sustainable solution for poverty alleviation in South Africa by promoting sustainable job creation through the solicitation and deployment of enterprise development and impact capital
The fund will also provide support services to small and medium growing enterprises with the potential of employing people on a permanent basis and thereby reducing poverty levels permanently.
Financial description
Capital is advanced to SMME's based on the fund's proprietary credit & risk model and the SMME's future ability to repay capital + interest as well as employ the minimum number of new employees.
Interest is received on a periodic basis of which the fund uses to settle its operating expenses, management fees and repay its contributors.
Investors receive 35% of all gross income earned by the fun and since the fund targets +- 15-18% gross return they earn +-5%.

The fund utilizes its capital raised from its partners by advancing it to qualifying support of small, medium, and micro-sized enterprises (SMMEs) and small and growing businesses (SGBs) by requiring SMME's to comply with prevailing BBBEE laws in South Africa. BBBEE laws were enacted in South Africa to encourage black people, who were previously disallowed to during Apartheid, to participate in SA's economy.
