Endeavor Catalyst I, L.P. is an innovative, mission-aligned model for nonprofit finance. It allows donors and investors to achieve social and financial returns by investing in companies creating high-quality jobs and driving economic development in emerging and growth markets around the world.

Endeavor Catalyst invests exclusively in the companies of Endeavor Entrepreneurs, who are granted admission into the Endeavor network after undergoing rigorous selection. To date, Endeavor has screened 41,000+ candidates and selected 1,000+ as Endeavor Entrepreneurs from 650+ companies.

Endeavor Catalyst is a rules-based, passive co-investor. We invest $500K-$2MM in Endeavor Entrepreneur companies raising a minimum equity round of $5MM led by a qualified, institutional investor. Although Endeavor Catalyst is passive in its investing role, Endeavor Global is proactive in supporting the growth of these companies through its signature support services. Investing alongside qualified, institutional investors allows Endeavor Catalyst to effectively "outsource" due diligence to those investors and “borrow” their track record.

A subcommittee of Endeavor Global’s board, including Reid Hoffman (Co-Founder, LinkedIn), Nick Beim (Partner, Venrock Partners), Bill McGlashan (Partner, TPG Growth), and Joanna Rees (Founder & Managing Partner, Soda Rock Partners), approves each investment. Endeavor Catalyst has made 22 investments to date and has achieved its first exit from an investment.

Financial description

Endeavor Catalyst has two primary return models. Through Endeavor Catalyst Philanthropy, participants can donate capital and receive a charitable tax deduction; 100% of the returns achieved go towards funding Endeavor Global's operations. Alternatively, participants can invest in the fund and share in the upside. In the event of an exit, the principal plus 20% of profits are distributed to investors, and the remainder goes towards funding Endeavor Global's operations. In this way, Endeavor Global hopes to become financially self-sustainable in the future.
Both models allow participants to achieve social impact returns by investing in high-impact companies that are driving job creation and economic development in emerging and growth markets worldwide.
The fund has no management fees.

Impact thesis

Endeavor Global selects and supports a group of extraordinary emerging-market entrepreneurs ("Endeavor Entrepreneurs") who have the potential to transform industries, communities, and even countries by creating jobs at scale and driving economic development.
Endeavor Global screens thousands of entrepreneurs each year and selects those with exceptional, high-impact potential. Through a rigorous, multi-step selection process (12-18 months), candidates pass a series of local and regional interviews before presenting to panelists from their global business network at International Selection Panels held four to five times each year. Entrepreneurs are assessed on six key criteria: Entrepreneurial Initiative, Role Model Potential, Values and Ethics, Development Impact, Business Innovation, and Fit with Endeavor. Those candidates ultimately selected as Endeavor Entrepreneurs run innovative, high‐growth businesses with impact that extends beyond company walls.
