Impact thesis

EcoAsia seeks to promote food security and address climate change in Southeast Asia through direct debt and equity investments in agriculture SMEs operating along the entire value chain – from farm to fork. By focusing resources to improve crop yields, enhance operational efficiencies, build internal capacity, and upgrade soft and hard infrastructure, EcoAsia expects to increase real economic value in its investment portfolio and boost food output and security for local communities in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, given that modern agriculture is an extremely energy intensive process there are numerous opportunities to leverage alternative energy, such as biomass-based power generation, to lower the carbon emissions of regional SMEs engaged in agriculture.
To monitor and measure the Fund’s social contribution and performance, EcoAsia has adopted and implemented the following Environment and Social Development guidelines and operating procedures: establishment of an Impact Committee, integration of the IRIS & FAST SIAMT Framework, and semi-annual on-the-ground assessments of each investment.
