Currently, cities across North America spend billions of dollars to throw away billions of dollars worth of commodities. Recycling this material instead would reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save taxpayer dollars, improve economic development, and create local jobs. There is a need for technology and business model innovation in the waste space to take advantage of this environmental and economic opportunity.

Closed Loop Ventures invests in companies that are ready to commercialize a business that can turn waste from a cost into profit for the public and private sectors. For every ton of waste diverted from landfill and into recycling streams, on average, cities save $50, create 10 jobs and reduce a ton of greenhouse gas emissions.

As the venture arm of Closed Loop Partners, Closed Loop Ventures utilizes our corporate investor base of 10 of the largest CPG and retail corporations, foundation partnerships, municipal relationships, and university affiliations to create competitive advantages for portfolio companies. Invest, Commercialize, and Scale Innovative Solutions into Profitable Companies that Solve Sustainability Challenges.
Valuation: Pre-money valuation generally up to $10m.
Investment Amount: Typically up to $1m in seed or series A round. Additional amount, typically not to exceed $4m, reserved for future rounds. Additional capital may be made available from co investors and /or affiliated funds for the purposes of achieving scale.
Due Diligence: Investments to be made only after a full diligence process, including seeking out feedback from CLP network of corporate partners and municipalities.
Key criteria include: Financial return on investment, Quantifiable environmental impact, Strong management team, Clear value proposition, Market opportunity, Intellectual property, Competitive advantage.
