The China Energy Efficiency Partners fund will invest in energy efficiency projects in the commercial and industrial sectors of China. The Fund seeks to generate relatively high, predictable levels of income by developing and financing projects at industrial sites (for example, power, cement and steel plants) and in commercial and public buildings and facilities. The projects involve the installation, operation and maintenance of energy-saving solutions and equipment. The Fund will seek to earn its investment return by sharing in the consequent energy cost savings achieved by the site, building or facility owners.
Financial description
The Fund will be the first major institutional investment vehicle of its kind to combine commercially-proven energy efficiency interventions (both solutions and equipment) with the appropriate structured finance needed to invest directly into energy efficiency projects. The Fund is targeting a gross IRR of greater than 20% and a cash-on-cash multiple of between 1.5 and 2.0 times.
