Impact thesis

BIV is focused on CleanTech based opportunities in India, through supporting social enterprises, whose primary focus is environmental and social impact, followed by rational financial returns. After 2 years of on-ground and policy research, BIV is convinced that to accomplish this target, firstly, the following sectors need to be addressed:
1. Renewable Energy: Waste to Energy solutions, eg. Biogas, bagasse, etc.; Small Hydro Power projects across the country; Off-grid renewable lighting solutions.
2. Energy Efficiency: Energy efficient technologies to be utilized across the sectors.
3. Waste Management Solutions: India's solid waste problem is piling up at an exponential rate, needing to be addressed yesterday.
4. Waste Water Treatment Solutions: In tier 2 and tier 3 cities across India, drinking water especially is becoming less localized causing direct health and economic issues for the locals.
Secondly, the other missing piece in the puzzle is the lack of access to finance in the 0.5-2.5million USD range. With a small angel network and a VC network investing >3million, enterprises are finding it hard to raise capital. BIV aims at bridging this gap.
