Fund geography

Aventura Rural Enterprise Fund targets venture stage “impact” investments in high-potential agricultural zones. The fund’s objective is to dramatically increase food production and rural employment in Africa by expanding and stabilizing the food-system value chain. The Fund strives to deliver a triple return: financial, social and environmental.
In its targeted regions, Aventura makes strategic investments in three sectors that are key to the development of a stable Food-System Value Chain:
1. Irrigated farm development & management
2. Farm machinery & inputs
3. Packing & cold storage facilities
Aventura has developed a unique investment model based upon the constraints of frontier market private equity and a profound knowledge of agriculture and the developmental needs of the food-system value chain in Africa.
The model is designed to address the business reality of agriculture in Africa. Each investment is accompanied by a comprehensive training program on business processes and job-specific technical skills. The model is highly scalable with core investments that can be replicated across Africa. Aventura’s initial geographic scope is the West African Franc CFA monetary zone, with a common currency pegged to the Euro.
Aventura managers have over 20 years of experience each, in agriculture, business development and private equity, with solid track records of building companies and managing agricultural enterprises.
