Description

We entered the impact space as mentors to social entrepreneurs. As we engaged with a wide range of entrepreneurs, we quickly realized that short term mentorship alone could not help these companies to stand on their feet and create the impact they envisioned. Sustained hands-on support and appropriate capital were completely missing.
We also realized that our combined skill sets which included 40 odd years of business building experience and investment was well suited to address this gap. And we were passionate to do this!
Laying the Foundation
We set out to define an institution that could partner long-term with promising entrepreneurs starting inclusive businesses. We rolled up our sleeves and worked with companies to define areas of support, interest alignment with the entrepreneurs, time frames and impact. We underpinned the technical support with a micro-fund structure to provide the required capital. We followed this up with investments into two promising enterprises.
This was the start of Ankur Capital.
