Impact thesis
CEI provides access to capital and information to create opportunity for people and communities outside the economic mainstream to build assets, create wealth and realize their full potential.
CEI targets sectors of historical significance to rural communities that are developing new products to meet 21st century markets ( e.g., forest products and biomass fuel) as well as newer opportunities (e.g. high speed internet infrastructure).
As a supporting organization to CEI, CEI Notes shares CEI's mission and strategy. Underwriting focuses on financial viability, the quality of social benefits (e.g., full-time employment with benefits, career development and safe work environments) and positive environmental impacts (e.g., integrating green materials and systems into affordable housing, adherence to grow smart principles, sustainable management of natural resources).
CEI Notes provides a flexible source of capital that enhances CEI's capacity to respond to a variety of high impact opportunities within a framework of targeted sectors selected for their potential to benefit rural communities and regions
